President of Republic Receives UN Special Envoy

On 17 January, the President of the Republic, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, received at the presidential palace in Nouakchott, the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in charge for the Western Sahara file, Mr. Staffan de Mistura.

The meeting took place in the presence of His the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad, Mr. Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, the Director of the Cabinet of the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ahmed Ould Mohamed Lamine, the Coordinator of United Nations Programs in Mauritania, Mr. Anthony Ohemeng-Boamah, and the Assistant Special Envoy, Ms. Sharon O’Brien.

The UN envoy had arrived in Nouakchott yesterday, on his first tour of the region after being assigned by the Secretary-General of the United Nations on the seventh of last October with the Western Sahara file.
