Prime Minister Chairs Meeting on COVID-19 Pandemic

On 30 December, the Prime Minister, Mr. Mohamed Ould Bilal Massaoud, chaired a meeting of the Interministerial Committee in Charge of Monitoring the COVID-19 Pandemic. The meeting falls within the framework of the Government’s monitoring of the health situation in the country, in implementation of the directives of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, and of his constant concern to take care of the health of the citizens.

During this meeting, the Committee reviewed the latest developments in the epidemiological situation. The available data indicated an increase in contaminations and cases requiring medical treatment.

On this occasion, the Committee studied the measures necessary to curb the spread of the virus before it gets worse.

In this regard, it decided to redouble efforts to:

– raise citizens’ awareness about the danger of the rapid spread of this virus;

– respect for all preventive measures, particularly in public places and spaces;

– intensify diagnostic processes that help contain the virus early on;

– Expand vaccination operations to the maximum number of citizens, as vaccination remains the best means of prevention.

– supply the health centers with equipment, material, and human resources necessary to support infected people.
Finally, the Prime Minister highlighted the need to be vigilant and implement all the instructions of the competent authorities and seriously face the new wave of the pandemic.

Mr. Mohamed Ould Bilal added that COVID-19 had forced many countries in the world to toughen measures against those who do not comply with preventive measures, especially those among them who do not have a vaccination certificate.
