The Minister of Economic Affairs and the Promotion of Productive Sectors, Mr. Ousmane Mamadou Kane, met, Wednesday in Nouakchott, with the members of the executive bureau of G-5 Sahel Commerce and Industry Chambers.
The meeting focused on the means and ways to create a group of commerce Chambers in the region to develop the commercial exchanges between the group’s countries.
On this occasion, the Minister expressed his department’s readiness to contribute to the development of partnership between Mauritania and this institution. He also underlined the pioneering role of the private sector in developing the economies of the region.
Regarding commerce, the Minister stated that the promotion of commercial exchanges would permit to overcome the difficulties resulting from the importation of other countries’ products.
M. Ahmed Baba Ould Eleya, President of Mauritanian Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture, which holds the Union’s rotating presidency, stressed that the meeting is part of a consultation process initiated by his organization with the countries member of the G-5 Sahel.
