In a word on the occasion, the Secretary General said that the fact that in addition to the nine thousand people who benefit directly from the project, 184 thousand others benefit indirectly demonstrates the importance of this project.
For his part, the national director of world vision Mauritania, Mr. Alex Whitney stressed that it was imperative to continue to strengthen the capacities of religious leaders, young people and women in order to strengthen the country’s capacity in its fight against the extremism at the community level and significantly reduce the vulnerability of target groups.
The Ambassador of the United States of America, Mrs. Cynthia Kierscht recalled, for her part, the reasons that motivate the US State Department to set up a fund to support the development and implementation of programs aimed at countering the spread of extremist ideologies.
