On July 13, Ms. Houda Babah, Minister of Education and Reform of the Education System, returned to Nouakchott from Paris, France, after participating in the Transforming Education Summit (TES+4), organized by the UN Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
During the summit, Minister Houda Babah participated in the High-Level Steering Committee meeting on Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education), where global leaders reviewed progress and discussed strategies for advancing inclusive and equitable education.
She also addressed a high-level session on the resilience of education systems, highlighting Mauritania’s efforts to build a more adaptable and resilient education sector capable of responding to current and future challenges. The Minister outlined the progress achieved under the country’s ongoing education reform agenda, implemented in line with President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani’s vision to strengthen the Republican School model and improve learning outcomes.
On the sidelines of the summit, Ms. Houda Babah held a series of bilateral meetings with senior international officials and development partners. The discussions focused on expanding cooperation in education, fostering the exchange of expertise, and mobilizing continued support for the Ministry’s initiatives to enhance the quality, resilience, and effectiveness of Mauritania’s education system.
