Mauritania Outlines Mineral Sovereignty Vision at ‘Mining on Top Africa 2026’ Summit

Paris

Mauritania presented its strategy for boosting mineral sovereignty and sustainable growth Yesterday at the 9th “Mining on Top Africa 2026” summit in Paris.

The Minister of Minerals and Industry, Mr. Eddey Ould Zeine, participated as a keynote speaker at the high-level ministerial roundtable entitled: “From Resource Ownership to Economic Power: Africa’s Vision for Mineral Sovereignty and Sustainable Growth”, alongside a number of ministers, decision-makers and experts in the mining sector.

During his address, the Minister emphasized three strategic priorities for the continent:

Regulatory Stability: Establishing predictable frameworks to attract long-term foreign investment.

Local Value: Developing infrastructure and industrial capacities to ensure raw resources generate local economic value.

Public-Private Cooperation: Strengthening coordination between governments, regional bodies, and the private sector to drive sustainable industrialization.

Mauritania’s participation comes against a backdrop of growing global demand for critical minerals, as the country seeks to consolidate its position as an investment destination and a regional hub for mining and industry.

The Mauritanian delegation is due to continue its participation in the summit Today, Wednesday, with a panel discussion dedicated to reviewing the country’s comprehensive mining strategy and the reforms aimed at improving the business climate and enhancing the sector’s appeal to international investors.
