President of Republic Receives Credentials of Canadian Ambassador

The President of the Republic, HE Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, received, on Thursday, the credentials of H.E Ms. Stewart Nell, in her capacity as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Confederation of Canada to Mauritania.

Then, a meeting was held in the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad, Mr. Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed.

Shortly after the meeting, the Canadian diplomat made a statement to the Mauritanian news agency (AMI), in which she said she was honored to have been received by the President of the Republic. According to her, it was an opportunity to discuss the fruitful relations between the two countries, particularly in the fields of peace, security, culture, and trade, among others. She also reiterated her readiness to work for the consolidation and development of cooperation between Canada and Mauritania.

The ceremony was attended by:

– Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad;

– Mohamed Ahmed Ould Mohamed Lamine, Director of Cabinet of the President of the Republic;

– Mohamed Lamine Ould Aboye Ould Cheikh El Hadrami, Officer in Charge of Special Duties at the Presidency of the Republic;

– Ahmed Mahmouden, Director for Europe at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad.
