In a statement to the Mauritanian News Agency following the meeting, the Regional Director expressed her gratitude to the Government of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to her since her arrival, as well as for the invitation.

She added that she was honored to meet the Prime Minister, noting that the discussions focused on the outcomes of the General Forums on Social Security, which were the main purpose of her visit to Mauritania.

She further indicated that the meeting provided her with valuable insight into the functioning of the Mauritanian government under the leadership of His Excellency President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, who places particular emphasis on strengthening social justice through comprehensive social security and social protection policies.

Ms. Kayirangwa emphasized that these policies are reflected in the national strategy and were concretely demonstrated during the general forum held in Mauritania, noting that this approach aligns with the ILO’s goals and programs.

She also praised the vision of building a more inclusive Mauritania, where citizens benefit from comprehensive social protection coverage, and reaffirmed the ILO’s readiness to support the government’s efforts to achieve its objectives in promoting employment and strengthening the social security system.
