Minister of Agriculture Opens the 34th Session of the FAO Regional Conference for Africa at the Expert Level
The 34th session of the FAO Regional Conference for Africa at the expert level kicked off today, Monday, at the “Mokhtar Ould Daddah” Conference Center in the capital, Nouakchott, paving the way for the ministerial conference to be held on the 17th of this month.
The conference, held under the theme “Strengthening partnerships, setting priorities, and directing investments for the transformation of agri-food systems in Mauritania,” on discussing a range of key issues, most notably assessing the results of the organization’s activities on the continent during the 2024–2025 period, identifying regional priorities for the coming phase, and following up on the implementation of the Kampala Declaration regarding the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Program.
Discussions will also address ways to sustainably manage natural resources, particularly land and water, and strengthen the resilience of food systems in the face of climate change and various crises, as well as examine a number of organizational matters, including the preparation of the draft final report to be submitted to the Ministerial Meeting.
