The First Lady, Dr. Mariam Mohamed Fadel Dah, accompanied by the Minister of Social Action, Childhood, and Family, Mrs. Safia mint Ntahah, presided over the ceremony commemorating International Women’s Day this evening, Sunday, in Nouakchott. This year, the event was held under the theme: “Rights, Justice, and Work for All Women and Girls.”
This event aims to highlight the status of Mauritanian women and recognize their contributions to building society and supporting the national development process.
In a speech on the occasion, the Minister of Social Action, Childhood, and Family praised the role played by the First Lady through her initiatives aimed at supporting Mauritanian women, advocating for their issues, and enhancing their presence in various development sectors.
She emphasized that women’s empowerment today goes beyond traditional frameworks to include the digital space, pointing to the launch of the digital platform “Mauritanian Women,” which aims to showcase the contributions of Mauritanian women and highlight their inspiring experiences.
