Minister of National Defense Leaves for Niamey

The Minister of National Defense, Mr. Hanena Ould Sidi left Nouakchott, on Sunday, for Niger where he will take part in the extraordinary session of defense ministers of the G-5 Sahel member countries to be held next Tuesday in Niamey.

During this session, the ministers will discuss the new security situation in the region and the measures to be taken to deal with it. They will also have to define the future role of the armed forces of the G-5 Sahel member countries as well as that of the joint force and other forces.

The session will be preceded by a meeting of the chiefs of general staff of the armed forces on 30 and 31 of this month.

The Minister is accompanied, during this trip, by the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces.
