Minister of Economic Affairs discusses with Director General of Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development ways to strengthen development cooperation

The Minister of Economic Affairs and Development, Mr. Abdallahi Souleymane Cheikh Sidiya, discussed today in the Italian capital Rome with the Director General of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, Mr. Walid Shamlan Al-Bahar, ways to strengthen development cooperation between Mauritania and the Fund.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Minister’s participation in the 49th session of the Governing Council of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).
The two sides reviewed the distinguished cooperation relations between Mauritania and the Kuwait Fund, which is a key partner in supporting the country’s development process. The discussions focused on strengthening the portfolio of development projects financed by the Fund, particularly in the areas of critical infrastructure, water, and food security support, in addition to projects to be jointly financed with the International Fund for Agricultural Development.
The minister expressed his appreciation for the pivotal role played by the Kuwaiti fund in supporting Mauritania’s development efforts, both within the framework of bilateral cooperation and through the Arab Coordination Group, stressing that the government, under the guidance of His Excellency President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, attaches particular importance to projects with a direct social and economic impact, especially those that contribute to creating job opportunities for young people and boosting national production, which is what the government of His Excellency Prime Minister Mokhtar Ould Djay is working to achieve.
For his part, the Director General of the Kuwait Fund affirmed the Fund’s readiness to continue supporting Mauritanian development programs, praising the level of efficiency in project implementation and the progress made by the country in the field of external finance management and improving economic indicators.
The meeting was attended by members of the accompanying Mauritanian delegation and a number of senior officials from the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development.
