Arrival of More Than 165,000 Doses of “Asrazeneca” Vaccine

The Minister of Health, Sidi Ould Zahaf, supervised Today, Monday, at the headquarters of the Expanded Immunization Program in the southern state of Nouakchott, the receipt of a new batch of the British “Asrazeneca” vaccine, provided by France within the framework of the international “Cofax” initiative to support efforts to address the Covid-19 pandemic.

This quantity consists of 165,600 wave doses for people who received the first dose of the same vaccine to complete their vaccination with the second dose, in an effort to vaccinate the largest number of citizens against this epidemic.

In his speech, the Minister appreciated the efforts of the French government and its response to the urgent demand of Mauritania.

He thanked the coalition of “Cofax” countries for working to mobilize this shipment and deliver it to the homeland despite the difficulties encountered in this.

He also praised the role of the representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund, which is responsible for distributing the vaccine, and the representative of the World Health Organization, the most important partner in the international coalition “COFAX”.

The First Counselor of the French Embassy in our country, Mr. Benoui Comperbi, expressed his happiness with the important steps taken by Mauritania to reach the generalization of the vaccine to all citizens and residents.

In turn, the resident representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund “UNICEF” in our country, Mr. Marc Lucet, thanked the participants in the “Kovax” initiative for providing this new quantity of the vaccine, which will allow citizens who received the first dose to take the second dose at the appropriate time against Covid 19.

For his part, the representative of the World Health Organization in our country, Mr. Patrick Kabore, congratulated our country on obtaining this significant amount of the vaccine, praising the results achieved in the fight against the pandemic.
