Seizure of 1.5 ton of Indian Cannabis

National gendarmerie units were able to successfully seize a ton and a half of Indian hemp and arrest six members of a network engaged in drug trafficking, including the mastermind holding a foreign nationality.
This was declared on Saturday at the headquarters of the western zone at the General Staff of the Gendarmerie, the public prosecutor of the Nouakchott west District, Judge Ahmed Abdallahi El Moustapha, during a press conference.
The prosecutor added that the quantity was entered into Mauritania onboard a boat by intermediaries, whose role is limited to depositing the cargo on Mauritanian soil so that another team takes care of its transfer to another country.
Finally, Mr. El Moustapha praised the courage and professionalism of the gendarmerie which allowed the seizure of such a quantity of drugs and the arrest and dismantling of a network active in the trafficking of this illicit and dangerous product.
