The Minister of Economic Affairs and Development, Mr. Abdallah Souleimane Sheikh Sidia, held talks yesterday, Thursday, in New York with the United Nations Assistant Secretary-General for Africa, Ms. Martha Ama Akyaa Pobee.
The meeting addressed Mauritania’s efforts in conflict prevention and the promotion of peace at both national and regional levels, emphasizing the importance of adopting a proactive approach to security and stability.Ways to strengthen the strategic partnership between the United Nations and the Mauritanian government were also discussed, particularly regarding the conflict prevention agenda.During the meeting, the UN official praised Mauritania’s experience, commending the efforts made in the field of prevention and calling for a broader mobilization of international institutions to support national priorities in this area.
