Conclusion of the First Lady’s Karate Cup Championship

Yesterday, the activities of the First Lady Karate Cup 2026 concluded at the Olympic Stadium Complex in Nouakchott, organized by the Karate Cubs Association in cooperation with the Mauritanian Karate Federation.

The closing ceremony, which took place after two days of competitions (January 10 and 11) dedicated to the under-14 youth category, witnessed the awarding of medals and honorary shields to the top winners, in addition to honoring the judging committee that oversaw the management of the championship, as well as several figures who contributed to the success of this sporting event.

In a speech on the occasion, Mr. Souleiman Lo, advisor to the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Employment, Sports and Civil Service, explained that this championship represents an important opportunity for participants to gain more experience in karate, appreciating the efforts of the Mauritanian Karate Federation and the Karate Cubs Association in organizing this important sporting event.

The ministry reaffirmed its support and standing alongside all sports initiatives that aim to develop youth skills and improve their athletic performance, praising the role played by all contributors in making this event a success.

For his part, the President of the Mauritanian National Olympic Committee, Mr. Abderrahmane Othman, explained that this championship reflects the growing interest in combat sports and consolidates their position in the national sports scene, noting that this cup is not merely a sports competition, but carries a noble message affirming that investing in young talents and guiding them towards sports is the foundation for building physically strong and ethically balanced generations.

He thanked the First Lady for sponsoring the championship and her continuous efforts in supporting children and people with special needs and nurturing emerging talents, calling on parents to encourage their children to practice sports due to its significant impact on building character and promoting physical health.

For his part, the President of the Mauritanian Karate Federation, Mr. Mohamed Ould Atlemidi, affirmed that this national event reflects the attention given to sports in general, and karate in particular, considering it a key leverage for human development, the consolidation of values of citizenship and discipline, and a space for nurturing talents and developing abilities.

The federation affirmed its commitment to continue working on developing the sport of karate and creating competitive opportunities that enable the training of athletes capable of representing the country in regional and international forums.

In turn, the President of the Karate Cubs Association, Mr. Ahmed Ould Al-Kitab, appreciated the continuous support provided by the First Lady to the youth category, affirming that her sponsorship of this sporting event reflects her growing interest in karate and its role in shaping generations and instilling the values of discipline and fair competition.
