Minister of Culture Discusses Cooperation with UNESCO’s Regional Office

The Minister of Culture, Youth, Sports, and Relations with Parliament, government spokesperson, Mr. Moktar Ould Dahi, discussed, Thursday via videoconference, with Mr. Alexander Schischlik, head of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Office with the countries of the Arab Maghreb, the areas of cooperation and partnership between his department and this organization of the United Nations system.

Among the topics discussed is UNESCO’s support for the national youth strategy under development and the national culture strategy.

The UNESCO mission is to establish peace through international cooperation in education, science, and culture. Its programs contribute to the achievement of the sustainable development goals defined in the 2030 Agenda adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 2015.

UNESCO develops educational tools to help every individual live as a citizen of the world and works so that every child and every adult has access to a quality education. The organization also strengthens ties between Nations by promoting cultural heritage and the equality of all cultures as well as promoting scientific programs and policies which are platforms for development and cooperation, and defends freedom of expression, a fundamental right and an essential condition for democracy and development.
