Valued at over $100 million, a Mauritanian-Saudi partnership to support the water sector

The CEO of the Saudi Development Fund and Chairman of the coalition of financiers for the project to supply the city of Kiffa with drinking water, Mr. Sultan bin Abdul Rahman Al-Morshed, expressed his pleasure at being in Mauritania to participate in the groundbreaking ceremony, which the Fund is helping to finance through a concessional development loan worth $100 million, representing more than 30% of the project’s total funding of $317 million. He noted that this project embodies the close developmental partnership that has lasted for more than 45 years between the Fund and Mauritania.
He added that this project, which will contribute to strengthening water security and facilitating access to water sources for more than 500,000 beneficiaries, comes within the framework of what the Saudi Development Fund has been providing since 1979 to support and finance 31 development projects and programs through concessional development loans and grants provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through the Fund, totaling nearly one billion dollars, in vital sectors across various regions of Mauritania.
