The Minister of Water and Sanitation, Mrs. Amal mint Maouloud, stated that the project to supply the city of Kiffa and a number of nearby towns and villages with drinking water represents a strategic developmental achievement that reflects the scale of national ambition and the sincere will to turn challenges into opportunities. She confirmed that once the works are completed, drinking water will flow through more than 780 kilometers of pipelines, starting from the Senegal River, to supply dozens of towns and villages from gourai to Selibaby, and from Hassi Cherar to Kiffa, passing through Kenkoussa.
She added that the project’s cost, exceeding 300 million US dollars, was mobilized thanks to the contribution of six Arab, Islamic, and international funding funds, noting that upon completion the project will be able to provide drinking water to more than 180,000 citizens, contributing to an economic and social transformation in this region.
