President of the Regional Council of the Assaba Region: The project to supply the city of Kiffa with drinking water will improve the living conditions of the citizens.

The President of the Regional Council of the Assaba Wilaya, Mr. Mohamed Mahmoud Ould Habib, on behalf of the residents of the wilaya, expressed his appreciation for the visit that His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, will make to the city of Kiffa, during which he will oversee the inauguration and launch of several important infrastructure projects, not only for the residents of the wilaya but also for the inhabitants of several regions and for citizens in the country in general.

He added in an interview with the Mauritanian News Agency that these developmental projects include the inauguration of rehabilitation works on several road sections on the Road of Hope, the extension of telecommunications networks to border areas, in addition to laying the foundation stone for the project to supply the city of Kiffa with drinking water from the Senegal River.

He highlighted the great importance of the project to supply the city of Kiffa with drinking water from the river, given the urgent need of the citizens to address the shortage of potable water, which has remained a key demand over past decades, and which previous governments failed to fulfill. He stated that the residents of Kiffa commend the supervision of His Excellency the President of the Republic over the launch of the implementation of this important project, which will provide drinking water to the residents of this city, considered the second most populous city in the country, noting that this project has a broader dimension in terms of the number of cities and villages that will benefit from it.

He pointed out that all the towns and villages located along the pipeline route that will connect Kori and the city of Kiffa, which includes about 92 towns and villages, will benefit from this important infrastructure project. He affirmed that the project to supply the city of Kiffa with drinking water from the river is considered one of the important national projects that will significantly improve the living conditions of the citizens through its effective contribution to promoting local development.
