Foreign Minister Receives AU High Representative for Mali, Sahel

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, received, on Saturday morning n Nouakchott, Mr. Maman Sidikou, whose mission at the head of the G-5 Sahel organization ends following his appointment as High Representative of the African Union for Mali and the Sahel, Head of the African Union Mission for Mali and the Sahel (MISAHEL).

On this occasion, the Minister welcomed, on behalf of the Government of Mauritania, the results achieved by the Nigerien diplomat and his contribution to strengthening the Executive Secretariat of the G-5 Sahel and its various governance bodies.

The meeting mainly highlighted the progress made during Mauritania’s current presidency of the G-5 Sahel under the coordination of the Executive Secretary and the prospects for strengthening the gains in security and development.
