Ministry of Finance is organizing a Training Workshop in Internal Auditing

Nouakchott, Nov 4, 2025 (AMI) – The Ministry of Finance, in collaboration with the Association of Internal Auditors and Financial Controllers, organized a three-day training workshop on internal auditing in Nouakchott on Tuesday. This workshop, under the theme “Internal Auditing in the Era of New Standards: Understanding, Adapting, and Working Effectively,” aims to strengthen control and audit mechanisms in the monetary and financial sectors. A presentation on auditing, control, and governance was given by Mr. Darmane Sidibé, Vice President of the West African Federation of Internal Auditors.

In his speech, Mr. Abdallahi Ould Tourad, coordinator of the General Finance Inspectorate, emphasized the crucial importance of internal auditing in the era of new standards for the future of governance in Mauritania.He noted that auditing is no longer just a traditional control mechanism, but has become a strategic tool for decision-making support and performance improvement.

Mr. Ould Tourad added that such a symposium represents a valuable opportunity to exchange experiences and strengthen national capacities in financial control. He praised the efforts made to promote a culture of integrity and transparency, and expressed the hope that the discussions would be fruitful and that concrete recommendations would contribute to the development of financial control in Mauritania. For his part, the President of the Association of Internal Auditors and Financial Controllers, Mr. Mohamed Mahmoud Ould Isselmou, stated that holding this symposium on this topic demonstrates a shared commitment to enhancing the effectiveness of control and audit professionals, and helps to consolidate the principles of transparency and good governance within our national institutions.

He emphasized that this symposium is part of the reform momentum that our country is experiencing, which aims to build a strong national network of auditors and controllers capable of meeting current demands.He invited the participants to make the most of this opportunity for exchange and learning, stressing that the Association will remain open to all those who wish to contribute to the development of the internal auditing profession and serve the national interest.
