Minister of Culture heads to Samarkand to participate in the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Assembly

Nouakchott, November 3, 2025 (AMI) – The Minister of Culture, Arts, Communication, and Relations with Parliament, government spokesperson Mr. Houssein Ould Medou, left Nouakchott this Monday for the city of Samarkand in the Republic of Uzbekistan to participate in the 43rd session of the General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), which will be held from November 4 to 14, 2025.Participants in this conference, which brings together Ministers of Culture and Education from various countries around the world, will examine ways to strengthen international cooperation in the fields of culture, education, science, and the protection of human heritage.
The conference will also elect the governing bodies of the international organization.Mr. Houssein Ould Medou will deliver Mauritania’s speech before the general conference, in which he will review the major changes that have taken place in the fields of culture, arts, and communication in our country, as well as the role of culture in promoting peace, development, and coexistence, and Mauritania’s active contribution to the work of the international organization and its bodies.
