Chinese Embassy is hosting a Reception in Honor of the 35th Chinese Medical Mission in Mauritania

The Chinese Embassy in Nouakchott organized a reception on Friday evening in honor of the members of the Chinese medical teams working in Mauritania.
This reception marks the end of the 35th medical mission and the beginning of the 36th. The handover between the two missions coincides this year with the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mauritania and the People’s Republic of China.
During the ceremony, the Minister of Health, Mr. Mohamed Mahmoud Ely Mahmoud, praised the historic and fruitful cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the health sector.
He emphasized that China has provided significant support to the health sector in Mauritania through various programs, including the construction, rehabilitation, and equipping of numerous health facilities, as well as the dispatch of dozens of medical missions and the training of national personnel in various medical, health, and technical fields.
The minister expressed his gratitude to the 35th Chinese mission for its remarkable efforts in various healthcare facilities, demonstrating exceptional dedication and professionalism that contributed to improving the healthcare services provided to citizens.
He praised the quality of the care and the commitment of the members of the mission. For his part, the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Mauritania, H.E. Tang Zhongdong, emphasized that behind every surgical operation, every medical consultation, and every hospital built lies the sincere friendship of the Chinese people and their commitment to sharing the benefits of health.
He emphasized that Chinese medical assistance is one of the most sustainable and effective humanitarian initiatives in the world, actively contributing to the improvement of health in developing countries and the protection of human life.

The members of the mission also visited villages, communities, and Mauritanian businesses to provide free consultations, medical training, awareness campaigns, and donations of medicines.
These efforts helped save lives, raise public awareness about health issues, and share touching stories of Sino-Mauritanian friendship.The ceremony took place in the presence of several central directors of the Ministry of Health, directors of health and hospital institutions in Nouakchott, members of the Chinese medical mission, and staff from the Chinese embassy.
