Mauritania participated in the sixth session of the Africa Resilience Forum (ARF 2025), organized by the African Development Bank from October 1 to 3, 2025, in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, under the theme: “Prioritizing Prevention: Financing Peace in the Changing Landscape of Development Cooperation.”
The forum served as a high-level meeting that brought together policymakers, humanitarian, development, and peace experts, as well as representatives from governments, the diplomatic corps, the private sector, and civil society.
Discussions focused on developing innovative approaches to financing prevention efforts and investing in peace, while addressing current issues such as youth economic inclusion, the role of the private sector, climate change adaptation, and enhancing regional integration.
Mauritania was represented at this international forum by Mr. Mohamed Abderrahmane Dadi, Assistant Director General for Strategies and Development Policies at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Development, who gave a presentation on national approaches to peacebuilding and strengthening social cohesion. He also reviewed the stable security situation that Mauritania enjoys in the Sahel region, despite security and climate challenges and demographic pressures.
The presentation highlighted the role of improved governance and the unprecedented increase in social spending through the social registry targeting the most vulnerable groups in achieving tangible positive results.
The session was moderated by the Vice President of the African Development Bank, with the participation of the Chair of the Peacebuilding Commission in Ghana, the Representative of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in Côte d’Ivoire, the Director of Finance at the International Committee of the Red Cross, and the Acting Director of the Peace Investment Authority.
