The Vice-President of the Economic, Social and Environment Council, Mr. Mohamed Abdellahi Siyam participated on Tuesday by videoconference in the work of the meeting of the Economic, Social and Cultural Council of Africa.
The work focused on several subjects including the adoption of the agenda of the Extraordinary General Assembly, the examination and adoption of new rules of procedure and internal lists of the Union, as well as the presentation of projects. resolution and their adoption by the Extraordinary General Meeting.
The Economic, Social and Cultural Council (ECOSOCC) was established in July 2004 as an advisory body. It is made up of different social and professional groups from AU Member States.
The objective of ECOSOCC is to give African civil society organizations (CSOs) the opportunity to play an active role in the development and implementation of the principles, policies and programs of the Union.
ECOSOCC contributes, in an advisory capacity, to effectively translating and evaluating the objectives, principles and policies of the Union into concrete programs, undertaking studies and formulating recommendations in addition to the promotion and achievement of the vision and objectives of the Union.
It also cooperates in the promotion of human rights, the rule of law, good governance, democratic principles, equality between men and women, and the rights of the child.
