Minister of Energy and Oil receives the CEO of the Saudi Development Fund.

The Minister of Energy and Petroleum, Mr. Mohamed Ould Khalid, received today, Tuesday, at the ministry’s headquarters, a Saudi delegation led by the CEO of the Saudi Fund for Development, Mr. Sultan bin Abdul Rahman Al-Murshid.

At the beginning of the meeting, the minister welcomed the members of the Saudi delegation, highlighting the contributions of the Saudi Fund to development projects in Mauritania.

The minister stated that the visit of the CEO of the Saudi Fund for Development and his program rich in meetings and activities represents a new milestone in strengthening the longstanding fraternal ties between the Islamic Republic of Mauritania and the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.He pointed out that the relations between the two countries are based on close cooperation and a convergence of visions and the mutual desire to support development and advance projects that serve our two peoples and meet the ambitions of the leaders of our countries,

His Excellency President Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, and the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz.

The Minister praised the pioneering role played by the Saudi Fund for Development in supporting and financing many vital projects in our country, which have had a tangible impact on improving infrastructure and enhancing economic growth.He added: ‘As you know, we are currently working in Mauritania to develop strategic projects in the fields of gas, electricity, and renewable energies, where Mauritania represents a unique platform for the production of clean energy.’

He affirmed that the sector aspires to develop joint projects with the Kingdom, especially with the Saudi Development Fund, which contributes to achieving the aspirations of our brotherly countries towards mutual prosperity and development that benefits everyone. He noted that energy projects, especially building electrical networks, stand out as a promising area for cooperation and joint work.The meeting was attended from the Mauritanian side by the Director General of Financing at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, along with several task officers, advisors, and directors from the Ministry of Energy and Oil, in addition to the Director General of the ‘Somelec’ group and officials from the company.

The Saudi side was represented by the accredited ambassador to Mauritania, Dr. Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Ruqabi, along with the executive president’s aides from the Saudi Fund for Development, Engineer Bandar bin Abdullah Al-Labidi, Mr. Faisal bin Suleiman Al-Lakhayban, and Mr. Fahd bin Abdullah Al-Haqbani.
