Minister of Culture Receives Egyptian Ambassador

On 16 September, in Nouakchott, Mr. El Houssein Meddou, the Minister of Culture, Arts, Communication, and Relations with Parliament, received Mr. Ahmed El Taya, the Ambassador of the Arab Republic to Mauritania.

The meeting focused on aspects of cooperation between the two countries in the cultural field.

In this context, the Minister received an invitation to participate in the inauguration of the Grand Egyptian Museum, scheduled for early November 2025.

The two parties also discussed Egypt’s participation with dozens of publishing houses in the Nouakchott International Book Fair, to be held in Nouakchott from 20 to 26 October 2025.

The two sides discussed the recovery of the library of scholar Mohamed Mahmoud Ould Tlamid following the signing of the latest agreement and the activation of the Egyptian Cultural Center in Nouakchott.

The Minister reiterated to the Ambassador our country’s strong support for the Egyptian candidate Khaled El-Enany, candidate of the Arab Group and the African Union, for the position of Director-General of UNESCO.
