President of Republic Lays Foundation Stone for Construction of King Salman bin Abdulaziz University Hospital
On 16 September, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, the President of the Republic, oversaw the laying of the foundation stone for the King Salman bin Abdulaziz University Hospital in Nouakchott.
The total cost of the hospital, which is being financed by the Saudi Fund for Development, amounts to US$70 million.
The hospital, comprising six floors, has a capacity of 308 beds, including 262 beds in inpatient wards, 22 beds for emergencies, and 24 beds in the dialysis unit. There are 181 inpatient rooms, divided into 82 single rooms, 94 double rooms, and 5 VIP rooms.
The hospital covers all medical and surgical specialties, including outpatient consultations, dentistry, cardiology, and catheterization, as well as surgical operations with 12 operating rooms equipped with the latest technology. Additionally, the hospital features a radiology department with an MRI machine, two scanners, an ultrasound machine, a mammography machine, and X-ray equipment.
It also includes laboratories, a central pharmacy, a morgue, a mosque, catering services, and an amphitheater for training and conferences.
Work on this pioneering healthcare facility will take 34 months under the supervision of the Al-Amro Group’s consulting office for engineering studies, and the control and monitoring of the project management unit and the Dr. Sulaiman Al-Habib Medical Group.
