Closure of the Academic Year 2024 – 2025 at the Faculty of Sciences and Technologies.

On Thursday evening, the Faculty of Sciences and Technology at Nouakchott University held a ceremony to celebrate the end of the 2024–25 academic year.

The event saw a number of professors, staff and students from the faculty being honoured fo In a speech on the occasion, the Vice President of the University of Nouakchott, Dr. Mohamed Lemine Ould Moulaye Ibrahim, emphasized the importance of this ceremony as an opportunity to highlight the significant scientific achievements of this college, which serves as the state’s front in training in the technological, scientific, and new techniques fields.

He expressed his pride in sharing the joy with the honored professors, students, and the administrative and academic staff for their achievements and scientific contributions.

In turn, the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology, Dr. Yakoub Diagana, praised the results and achievements that the faculty has accomplished during the past academic year, despite the challenges and difficulties it faced at the beginning of the academic year due to the increase in the number of students assigned to it. In this regard, he pointed out that the number of students accepted in the first year for the academic year 2024-2025 reached about 4,500 students, while their number in the academic year 2023-2024 was about 2,800 students, while the number of faculty members, researchers, and technicians remained almost constant.

The Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology confirmed that “this issue and challenge have been overcome thanks to a committed team at all levels, which enabled the overcoming of all difficulties through good planning and effective management of staff, continuous support, and maintaining the quality of teaching through acquired skills, practical training, training courses, and others.”

He explained that his college witnessed this year an improvement in the success rate of students in the first session compared to previous years, where the success rate in the first year was 44%, in the second year 72.5%, and in the third year 43%, and it is expected that with additional sessions, the success rate will reach between 70% to 80%.

The speakers on behalf of the honored professors, students, and administrators unanimously praised the role that the Faculty of Science and Technology plays in academic achievement and in raising the quality of higher education and scientific research in various vital fields that concern the nation and the citizen.
