The Prime Minister Mokhtar Ould Djay chaired a meeting with the heads of regional councils on Monday evening at the meeting room of the First Ministry.
The heads of the regional councils appreciated the positive response and the quick response to the request for a meeting with the Prime Minister, calling for making it a regular meeting.
They also praised the efforts made, especially the emergency program for universal access to services necessary for local development and the emergency program for the development of the city of Nouakchott, reviewing the issues they face and the challenges that need to be addressed to achieve decentralization.
Prime Minister Mokhtar Ould Djay stressed that the government is continuing to promote decentralization in accordance with the directives of H.E. President of the Republic Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, who considers it an indispensable option for achieving the desired development.
He also stressed that decentralization must be implemented according to a vision that allows for a phased transfer of powers in a way that ensures the achievement of the desired benefits, taking advantage of successful experiences in this field.
Finally, the Prime Minister instructed to expedite the finalization of the concept of transferring certain powers to the regions so that it can be discussed and ratified later.
