The Director General of the Agency for the Promotion of Investments in Mauritania (APIM), Ms. Aissata Lam, participated in the opening ceremony of the Generation Equality Forum at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron.
Ms. Lam has participated as a member of the G-7 Advisory Council since 2019 and wishes to capitalize on the achievements of this platform of global decision-makers on issues of access to women’s capital in Africa and Mauritania in particular.
The Director General of APIM took advantage of her participation to initiate discussions with the European Investment Bank around their SheInvest initiative and the African Development Bank with the AFWA fund launched at the end of the G-7 in Biarritz. She wants to boost investments with consideration of the significant economic gaps for women entrepreneurs in Mauritania.
Several heads of state and senior figures such as US Vice President Kamala Harris and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton attended the forum alongside President Emmanuel Macron, as well as key economic decision-makers and business leaders, in particular Mr. Pinault of the Kering group.
