Regional Meeting to promote Climate Change Adaptation and Youth Employment Senegal River Investment Organization organizes

The Senegal River Investment Organization (SIO), in collaboration with the UNFCCC Global Innovation Hub, organized a regional meeting on Thursday in the Jama Bridge area along the Senegal-Mauritania border, under the theme: “A space of opportunity to enhance climate change resilience, job creation and innovation.”

Experts, representatives of FAO partner institutions, local authorities and civil society actors from the Senegal River Investment Organization (SRIO) member states are participating in the event.

The meeting will explore pilot project strategies, innovative financing mechanisms, and the involvement of youth and women in a participatory approach to enhance climate resilience.

Mohamed Ould Abdelvettah, High Commissioner of the Senegal River Investment Organization, said in a speech on the occasion that the meeting brings together several experts and those interested in the field of climate change to make recommendations for Within the framework of youth employment, the participants will discuss recommendations on how to make the Senegal River region an opportunity for youth employment, he added.

The Director General of SONADER, Mr. Hamada Ould Didi Ould Sidi Ahmed, highlighted the Mauritanian government’s interest in this topic, expressing his hope that this meeting will enable an effective plan to combat river flooding.
