Hamburg Sustainable Conference: Supporting Transition in Vital Sectors

Mr. Mohamed Ould Khaled, the Minister of Energy and Oil, took part in the conference on sustainable development held in Hamburg on 2-3 June.

On the sidelines of his participation, the Minister held talks with Ms. Reem Abali Radovan, the German Minister for Cooperation and Development, and Ms. Barbel Kofler, the Minister Delegate for Cooperation.

The talks focused on strengthening cooperation between Mauritania and Germany, which the German Minister for Cooperation and Development pledged to consolidate by urging German companies to invest in Mauritania, particularly in renewable energies and manufacturing industries.

The Minister of Energy and Oil also took part in two seminars, one on infrastructure financing for energy projects and the other on Mauritania, organized by the African Development Authority, during which he gave a presentation on energy and investment opportunities in Mauritania.

The second edition of the Hamburg Sustainability Conference brings together high-level representatives from over 110 countries in 60 sessions to devise solutions to development challenges, build alliances for sustainable development, and accelerate efforts to implement the UN Agenda 2030.

The conference focused on important topics, including: mobilizing investment to achieve sustainable development goals and promoting the transformation of vital sectors, particularly energy and related infrastructure.

The Hamburg conference is supported and sponsored by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, the United Nations Development Programme, the Michael Otto Foundation, and the District of Hamburg.
