The Minister Delegate to the Minister of Economy and Finance, responsible for the Budget, Mr. Codioro Moussa N’Genore, and the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, H.E. Tang Zhongdong, signed a financing agreement on Wednesday in Nouakchott for the construction of a conservation and storage unit for food products.
This project aims to enhance food security, strengthen crisis response capabilities, and improve the government’s ability to act swiftly in emergencies. It also supports long-term food sovereignty through the construction of a modern warehouse with a capacity of 30,000 tonnes for the Food Security Commission.
During the signing ceremony, the Minister Delegate expressed the Mauritanian government and people’s gratitude to China, highlighting the significant contributions of the Chinese government to Mauritania’s economic and social development.
For his part, the Chinese Ambassador emphasized that this agreement reinforces cooperation between the two nations and aligns with their ongoing efforts to address food security challenges through productive bilateral collaboration.
