The President of the Republic, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, received, on Tuesday at the Presidential Palace in Nouakchott, the credentials of HE Mr. Ahmed Mohamed Abdelhamid Taya, in his capacity as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.
Following the ceremony, the President of the Republic honored the Egyptian diplomat at a reception attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad, Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug.
On leaving the audience, the ambassador made the following statement to the Mauritanian News Agency: “I had the honor of being received today by His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, to whom I presented my credentials and conveyed to him the greetings of his brother, His Excellency President Abdelvettah Essissi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
I am very honoured by the welcome extended to me by His Excellency, to whom I expressed our great hopes for the development of relations between Egypt and Mauritania, two countries with deep-rooted historical and cultural ties, which we hope to strengthen and develop further.
Furthermore, I expect the Egyptian Mauritanian Joint Commission to meet before the end of this month to breathe new life into relations between the two countries.
Finally, I would like to thank all my colleagues, my brothers, the Presidency of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad, and wish the President, the Government and the people of Mauritania every success in their development efforts”.
