The Sputnik Media Foundation in Moscow hosted the launch of the InteRussia fellowship program for employees of news agencies and media organizations in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) countries.

The InteRussia program provides a valuable opportunity for employees of these institutions to learn about the Russian agenda, benefit from the expertise of Sputnik’s leading specialists, and exchange experiences with their counterparts from different countries. The program also includes visits to prestigious educational, research, social and political platforms.

 

The first week of the fellowship saw a variety of events, activities, workshops, field visits and tourism.

 

Sergey Orlov, Deputy Executive Secretary of the Gorshakov Fund, and Vasily Pushkov, Director of International Cooperation at Rossiya Segodnya, opened the program with welcoming remarks.

The participants received important lectures, most notably “The Future of the International Media Industry” and “Article Writing Skills in News Agencies,” presented by Denis Lukyanov, Senior Social Media Editor at the United Foreign Broadcasting Department of Rossiya Segodnya.

 

On the professional development side, the trainees participated in a hands-on workshop on “Coverage Angles, Headlines, Breaking News,” led by Oleg Dmitriev, an expert trainer at Rossiya Segodnya.

 

A guided tour of the international multimedia journalism center and newsrooms of Rossiya Segodnya was also organized for the participants.

The first week’s program also included a visit to the Moscow Mosque, led by Radek Amirov, special correspondent of the General Directorate of Information, as well as a sightseeing tour of Moscow, which included photography and videography activities.

The InteRussia fellowship program is implemented by the independent non-profit organization “Mezhdunarodniki”, in cooperation with the Gorshakov Fund, the International News Agency and the Sputnik broadcasting service, and with the support of the Russian Presidential Grants Foundation.

 

The Mauritanian Press Agency is participating in this fellowship represented by the head of the National Languages Department, Zeidane Hadrami.
