Prime Minister Chairs Meeting of Inter-Ministerial Committee in Charge of Improving Business Climate, Promoting Investment

The Inter-Ministerial Committee in charge of improving business climate and promoting investment met, today in Nouakchott, under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Mohamed Ould Bilal Messoud.

The objective of the meeting was to discuss the content of the Doing Business 2021-2023 roadmap project, in execution of the component of the program of His Excellency the President of the Republic Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani relating to the improvement the business climate in our country.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister recalled the importance for the government to constantly improve the business climate for its contribution to attracting investment and creating wealth and jobs for the benefit of our populations.

During the discussions, the draft roadmap was reviewed, through its main strategic axes which bring together the reform packages proposed for the improvement of the said climate.

These range from the facilitation of business creation to obtaining building permits, connection to electricity, payment of taxes, property transfers, modernization, and dematerialization of procedures…. etc

It was decided, within this framework, to set up a technical committee in charge of identifying and proposing concrete measures, easy and quick to implement, to significantly improve the ranking of our country in terms of Doing Business.

At the end of the meeting, His Excellency the Prime Minister urged the ministers, each as far as he is concerned, to personally monitor the implementation of this roadmap and to increase consultations around its cross-cutting aspects.

He reminded them that all obstacles must be removed, and the best environment made available to make our country a preferred destination for investors.
