The President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El-Ghazouani, received, Tuesday at the Presidential Palace in Nouakchott, Ms. Janet Rogan, regional ambassador of the COP 26 for the Middle East and Africa, in the company of HE Mr. Colin Wells, Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Mauritania.
At the end of the meeting, the ambassador made a statement to the Mauritanian news agency, in which she said: “I was honored to be received by His Excellency the President of the Republic as Regional Ambassador for the Middle East and Africa region of the Conference of the Parties.
It was an opportunity for me to extend an invitation to him to take part in the twenty-sixth United Nations Climate Conference to be held in Britain in November, and His Excellency accepted the invitation.
” The conference will be an opportunity for the whole world, as it will bring together, for the first time since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, heads of state and government to discuss various topics such as climate change, sustainable development, and decline of the economy.
We hope that Mauritania, which occupies an important place in the Sahel region, and particularly within the G-5 Sahel, will participate in this conference”.
The meeting was attended by Ms. Mariem Bekaye, Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development, Mr. Mohamed Ahmed Ould Mohamed Lamine, Drector of Cabinet of the President of the Republic, and Mr. Colin Wells, Ambassador of the United Kingdom to our country.
