President of Republic Receives Credentials of Italian Ambassador

The President of the Republic, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El-Ghazouani, received the credentials of His Excellency Mr. Armando Barucco, in his capacity as the Ambassador Extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Republic of Italy to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.

After the meeting, The President of the Republic granted an audience to the Italian diplomat with the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad, Mr. Ismael Ould Cheikh Ahmed.

Soon after the meeting, the Italian Ambassador made the following statement to the Mauritanian news agency (AMI):
“I had the honor to present my credentials to His Excellency the President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, in my capacity as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Italy to Mauritania. We had a very interesting discussion on the relaunch of cooperation between the two countries, in all sectors of major interest, namely those of security, defense, economic and trade cooperation, but also cooperation in the field of culture and heritage conservation in which Italy has a very important historical tradition and some of the most prestigious specialized institutions in the world.

Intercultural and inter-religious dialogue was discussed. We have just submitted to the Mauritanian religious authorities an invitation to participate in the forum of religions to be organized in Italy ”.

The ceremony was attended by:

– Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad
– Mohamed Ahmed Ould Mohamed El Amine, Director of the President’s Office.

– Mohamed El Hanachi Ould El-Ketab, Ambassador and Director General of Bilateral Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad.

-Mohamed Lamine Ould Abey Ould Cheikh El Hadrami, Officer in Charge of Special Duties at the Presidency of the Republic.

– Ahmed Mahmouden, Ambassador, Manager of Europe at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad.
