The President of the Republic, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El-Ghazouani, received the credentials of His Excellency Mr. Boris Jiko, in his capacity as the Ambassador Extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Russia to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.
After the meeting, The President of the Republic granted an audience to the Russian diplomat with the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad, Mr. Ismael Ould Cheikh Ahmed.
Then, the ambassador made a statement to the Mauritanian news agency (AMI) in which he indicated that he “presented his credentials to His Excellency the President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani as Ambassador of the Russian Federation”.
It is, he said, with great pleasure that he takes up his duties as representative of the Russian Head of State. It is a challenge from a professional and personal point of view. The Russian Federation and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, despite their geographical distance are close through the values and principles they share.
“During the meeting, I welcomed the concordance of the positions of Moscow and Nouakchott on the many international and regional issues. I also expressed to His Excellency the President my admiration for the efforts made by Mauritania to strengthen and develop relations with Russia. I am determined to promote these ties of cooperation and common action for the mutual benefit of both sides in the areas of trade, fisheries, defense, security, education, and health”, as he put it.
