Mr. Jack Lang, President of the Arab World Institute, expressed his sincere thanks to the Mauritanian authorities for the warm welcome and invaluable assistance received during his recent stay in Mauritania. This attentive welcome greatly contributed to making this experience “a unique and unforgettable moment”, adding that the members of the IMA delegation “were touched by the beauty of the country and the warmth of its people”.
Lang expressed his amazement at “the exceptional heritage of Chinguetti,” stressing “its unique role in Arab-Islamic history” and its importance as a “living memory and treasure to be preserved.”
He also praised the commitment of the Mauritanian authorities to promote the country’s culture on the international scene and highlighted their role at UNESCO in enhancing Mauritanian heritage and culture. “This admirable work is essential,” he said, expressing his wish to contribute, through the Arab World Institute, to further highlighting the richness and uniqueness of Mauritania.
