London

Governor of the Central Bank of Mauritania, Mr. Mohamed Lemine Ould Dhehbi, opened the London Stock Exchange on Tuesday morning at 08:00 local time in London.
After the opening of the exchange, the Governor gave a speech in response to the welcome address by Ms. Julia Hockett, Chairman and Chief Executive of the London Stock Exchange.
The BCM Governor’s activities in London are part of his visit to the United Kingdom to develop the partnership between the Central Bank of Mauritania and the London Stock Exchange.
Last Tuesday, he attended a series of presentations by experts from the London Stock Exchange on money markets, economic data analysis and the use of artificial intelligence in forecasting.
The presentations also covered interest rates and foreign exchange markets. The Governor is due to meet a number of officials from the UK Treasury and Foreign Office on Wednesday.
The Central Bank of Mauritania has established a partnership with the London Stock Exchange as part of the project to create the Nouakchott Stock Exchange, and hopes that this visit will give the project a boost.
