On Tuesday, the Wali of Trarza, Mr. Mohamed Ould Ahmed Mouloud paid an inspection visit to the shelter center for those affected by the recent floods, caused by the high water level of the river, at kilometer 7 in the city of Rosso.
In a statement to the office of the Mauritanian News Agency, the Wali explained that this center accommodates 100 families relocated from the village of Baghdad, which is located on the outskirts of the city of Rosso, and that the administrative and security sectors as well as the army joined efforts to provide the necessary services to those affected in the center, such as providing tents, mattresses, water, food, detergents, mosquito nets and other health supplies, in addition to some sums of money.
The Wali added that the process of transporting those affected was supervised by the national navy, indicating that the state is paying close attention to the shelter centers.
The Wali also warned that the numbers in this center are likely to increase due to the fact that the village of Karmadik was affected by the floods.
