Prime Minister Receives Senegalese Minister of Livestock
Prime Minister Mr. Mohamed Ould Bilal received, Thursday in Nouakchott, the Senegalese Minister of Livestock and Animal Productions, Mr. Aly Saleh Diop, currently visiting Mauritania.
The meeting focused on cooperation relations between Mauritania and Senegal and the means to further strengthen them.
Soon after the meeting, the Senegalese official made the following statement to the Mauritanian news agency (AMI): “I had the honor of meeting the Prime Minister, as part of my visit to Mauritania as Senegalese minister of Livestock and Animal Productions to prepare for Eid El-Adha (Feast of Sacrifice), which is a religious, economic, and social event.
To this end, Senegal sent a delegation to Mauritania to discuss with the Mauritanian authorities the measures and mechanisms necessary for the event to take place under satisfactory conditions.
I take this opportunity to salute the great support we have received from Mauritania in this activity, and I say that His Excellency Mr. Macky Sall has requested that the sacrifices coming from of Mauritania be exempt from all forms of tax over a period of 90 days, namely 45 before and 45 after the feast.
The President of the Republic of Senegal has also asked us to ensure security, provide water and transport for these animals, and facilitate road control during their passage so that the 2021 season takes place in good conditions.
The mission entrusted to me today will be crowned with the signing with the Minister of Rural Development of an agreement between the two countries in this regard and all measures have been taken during our meeting this morning for the success of this mission”.

– Ms. Aicha Vall Mint Verges, Director of Cabinet of the Prime Minister;
– Mr. Mohamed Yahya Ould Ahmedou, Officer in Charge of Special Duties at the Prime Minister’s office;
– HE. Mr. Moustapha Ndour, Ambassador of Senegal accredited to Mauritania.
