President of Republic, AU Chairman, Meets With German Counterpart

On 8 October, in Berlin, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El-Ghazouani, the President of the Republic and Chairman of the African Union (AU), was received by His Excellency Mr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier, the President of the Federal Republic of Germany.

Upon his arrival at Berlin airport from Hamburg, His Excellency was greeted by a military detachment to the sound of the national anthem.

The meeting examined bilateral relations between the two countries, means to enhance cooperation and investment opportunities in the two countries, and regional, African, and international issues.

During the meeting, the President of the Republic praised Germany’s role in adopting the Charter for the Future and what it offers to face the profound transformations of the world while appreciating Germany’s generous support to Mauritania in the various areas of cooperation.

in turn, the German President congratulated the President of the Republic on the success and development of democracy in Mauritania, declaring Germany’s readiness to pursue cooperation with Mauritania and support its policies. He praised Mauritania’s central role in maintaining security and stability in the region, congratulating the President of the Republic on the policy of taking care of youth, the importance of this group in national construction, and the danger of not involving it in the affairs’ management.

He affirmed Germany’s readiness to continue its support in the field of vocational training for the benefit of our country.
