Organizing a Seminar on the Speech of the President of the Republic on the Occasion of the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly

The Diplomatic Academy organized, on Monday at its headquarters in Nouakchott, in partnership with the Nouakchott Diplomatic Club and the Association of Mauritanian Professional Diplomats, a seminar on the speech of His Excellency the President of the Republic on the occasion of the 79th ordinary session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The organization of this seminar, held within the framework of the public diplomacy component of the Diplomatic Academy program, coincides with the opening of the diplomatic year 2024.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Director General of the Diplomatic Academy, Ambassador Abdelkader Ould Mohamed Ahmedou, welcomed the attendees, explaining that this event has become a tradition of the institution coinciding with the opening of the diplomatic year, highlighting that the speech of His Excellency the President of the Republic at the 79th regular session of the United Nations General Assembly represents a reference for diplomacy.

He pointed out that what is new in this seminar is the presence of media treatment with diplomatic treatment.

The first session of the seminar, moderated by former Minister Dahane Ould Ahmed Mahmoud, included a lecture on the context and general orientations of the speech, presented by Mr. Mohamed Lemine Ould Brahim, Ambassador in charge of Mission at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and commented by former Ambassador Anqam Yahya.

The second session of the seminar, chaired by Mr. Ismail Chouaib, in charge of the Office of the Minister of Culture, included a lecture entitled “The cultural, economic and development dimension in the speech of His Excellency the President of the Republic”, presented by journalist Mohamed Lemine Ould Khatari, and followed by Mr. Taleb Habib, Assistant Director of the Communication and Information Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad.

The seminar witnessed several interventions on this speech and its diplomatic dimensions and connotations.

The seminar was attended by many personalities, including the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Culture, members of the Nouakchott Diplomatic Club, the Assistant Director of the Diplomatic Academy, and prominent diplomatic and media figures.
