Late Emir of Kuwait ..Mauritania’s Brother and Loyal Friend

Nouakchott, 01 oct 2020 (AMI)-The President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani offered, during the cabinet’s weekly meeting, his condolences to the Mauritanian government and people afflicted by the painful death of the Emir of Kuwait, Sabah Al Ahmed Jaber Al Sabah, who died on Tuesday morning.
After the prayer for the soul of the illustrious deceased, his Excellency Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani underlined the affection that the late Emir had for our country and that he was always among the most distinguished loyal friends of our country, to which he had paid many visits.
Under his leadership, the relations between Mauritanian and kuwaiti peoples had been strengthened and consolidated. His Highness marked his attachment to Mauritania by two visits. The first one was in 2010, the second was in 2016 to attend the Arab league summit in Nouakchott.
Under his reign, kuwait had presented Mauritania to the Arab World as an Arab country, and through its media which broadcast historic and archaeological information about Mauritania, allowing other countries to discover its landscape, its history, and its rich and abundant scientific production.
At the diplomatic level, Nouakchott and Kuwait City reduced the distances that separate them, renforcing the links, especially by the visit of the Emir Sabah Al-Salim Al-Sabah, in 1970s. such a visit inaugurated the privileged cooperation and the establishment of the close brotherly links, which were mertrialized by granting generous aids to Mauritania that have contributed to the development of the country in all areas.
