The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad, Mr. Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, on Monday evening, supervised a reception, at the Diplomatic Academy in Nouakchott, in honor of the former club of Mauritanian diplomats (foreign ministers, general secretaries, and ambassadors).
In a speech on this occasion, the Minister of Foreign Affairs said that the ceremony that his department is organizing for the first time this year, is a tribute to the deans of the diplomatic corps of Mauritania, in recognition of their efforts in the service of Mauritanian diplomacy, and in recognition of the tradition of consultation, the exchange of opinions, and the transfer of experiences.
He said that this ceremony was held inside a new building that inspires pride, that of the Mauritanian Diplomatic Academy created thanks to the vision and ambition of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani. This academy, he said, is a space dedicated to improving the performance of the sector, through various programs of meetings, training, and studies in line with the political imperatives of the department.
He stressed that the successes achieved by the Department of Foreign Affairs are only an accumulation of the efforts and sacrifices of the deans of the diplomatic corps. He specified that it is this capital of experience and this solid reference that the academy seeks to develop, to benefit future generations of diplomats.
In this sense, he added, the academy is a pioneering experience for Mauritanians in the present and in the future to preserve diplomatic memory and ensure the continuity of the state.
The Iftar and exchange ceremony was attended by the Minister of Culture, Handiraft, and Relations with Parliament, Mr. Lemrabott Ould Bennahi, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and several officials of the ministry.
