President of Republic Receives Message of Congratulations From President of Italy’s Council of Ministers

On 18 July, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, the President of the Republic, President-elect, received a message of congratulations from HE Ms. Giorgia Meloni, the President of the Council of Ministers of Italy, following his re-election to the presidency of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, in the first round, on 29 June.

The message reads as follows:

“Mr. President,

I wish to express to you my most sincere congratulations and my best wishes for your re-election to the Presidency of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania. Your confirmation at the country’s summit will ensure the continuity of the new impetus that we have given to relations between Italy and Mauritania, with the opening of our Embassy in Nouakchott and within the framework of the Italian Presidency of the G7 and the Mauritanian Presidency of the African Union.

We consider Mauritania a key player in the Sahel region and an example of respect for constitutional standards.

In this spirit, I will be honored to continue to work with you to further strengthen the partnership between our two Nations, also through the development of initiatives within the framework of the Mattei Plan for Africa.

While renewing my best wishes for the full success of your term, I ask you to accept the assurances of my highest consideration.”
